The Digital core is the knowledge the digital T Levels share, whether you are heading towards software development, support and security or data analytics: how problems are broken down and solved, how data is gathered, stored and protected, what the legislation actually requires of an organisation holding personal data, the threats a system faces and the controls that answer them, and the project methodologies a team works inside. It is assessed by two written papers and an employer-set project; the papers test whether you can apply a principle to a described workplace rather than whether you can code, and that is the part practised here. Practice here works on that: a scenario, a constraint, and a decision that follows from both.
