A-Level Psychology core topics, following the AQA specification (7182) as the example board: social influence (conformity, obedience, resistance and minority influence), memory (models, forgetting and eyewitness testimony), attachment, clinical psychology and mental health (formerly psychopathology: definitions, phobias, depression and OCD), approaches in psychology (learning, cognitive, biological, psychodynamic and humanistic), biopsychology (the nervous system and the brain), research methods and data analysis, and issues and debates. A few materials keep topics AQA removed in its 2025 revision (first teaching September 2025) as clearly marked background. OCR, Pearson Edexcel and WJEC/Eduqas organise their courses differently, so check your own board's specification.
A levels are awarded by AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas and CCEA, and regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA Regulation, the regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
