GCSE Maths: Fractions, Decimals and Percentages

Fractions, decimals and percentages sit at the heart of the Number strand of GCSE Mathematics, and questions drawing on them appear throughout both Foundation and Higher tier papers — often hidden inside problems about money, discounts, interest and data. This practice quiz checks the full chain of skills the specification expects: converting fluently between the three forms, ordering a mixed list of fractions, decimals and percentages, and applying percentage reasoning to realistic situations.

The questions go beyond simple conversion. You will work with percentage multipliers (recognising that a 15% decrease means multiplying by 0.85), calculate percentage change from before-and-after prices, and tackle the reverse percentage problems that catch so many candidates out — finding the original price of an item after a discount has already been applied.
